As I write this message I can hear fireworks in the background, all part of the 4th of July celebrations.  Let’s remember to take time to thank those who have served or currently serve our county whom we meet through the work we do.  Let me recap for you some of the activities at the Network this past quarter.  It seems like there is never a dull moment or month where the Network is concerned.  Many very active members are the reason we have such a great organization.

The Network with the Network event for April was hosted by Fallon Health Weinberg PACE along with co-host Bee Group Newspapers.  We were honored to have representatives from a greyhound rescue organization present.  Nothing like a little animal love to bring a smile to your face.

In May, we were treated to some pampering by our host The Amberleigh and co-hosts Olear Realty Group, Caring Transitions, Mobile Dysphagia Diagnostics and Venture Forthe, Inc.  Those in attendance had their choice of a manicure, chair massage, haircut or makeup consultation. This reminds us how important it is for caregivers to take care of themselves.  We all need time to socialize and recharge on a regular basis.  Some of those who attended showed another way to relax, the evening wrapped up with some fun in a lip sync competition.

More recently, in June we were treated to a Network with the Network with the theme “Life’s a Beach”, a play on words by our host Harris Beach PLLC.  They hosted along with Elderwood Lancaster, Elderwood West Seneca, FirstLight Home Care, Northwestern Mutual, National Parkinson’s Foundation and Michele Dill-Keller Williams Realty.  It a very well attended event and good to see how member agencies come together.  It is no accident; Harris Beach prefers to host in the summer months on a Tuesday at the Larkin Building to coincide with Food Truck Tuesday.  A little bonus for those in attendance that may want to extend their evening of fun, food and music a little bit longer.

I close by wishing all our members a safe and enjoyable summer season.  I will see you at the Taste of the Network where we will celebrate the culinary work of some member agencies, announce our Jerry Flaschner Humanitarian Spirit Education Award scholarship winner and President’s Challenge winner.
